Welcome to my mini day/staycation series of 2021 highlighting my UK adventures. These posts will be a quick fire guide so I hope you’re inspired and most importantly, enjoy reading them!
We visited Bath for a long weekend back in May so our activities were outside focused as required at the time but these still apply for warmer or dry days!
We stayed in a village called Claverton which is a mere 3 miles away from Bath city centre. Even if you don’t have a car, there is a direct bus or it’s a short taxi ride out.
What we did:
General sightseeing of the city centre
The streets of Bath are picturesque in themselves. During our walk we passed through the shopping high street to Bath Abbey and also Pulteney Bridge which over looks Parade Gardens and the River Avon. We sat on the bridge for a nice view but the gardens cost £2 to enter if you want to enjoy them further.
Thermal Bath Spa – a beautiful spa place with a rooftop pool which was my favourite. The view of Bath from both sides is stunning! Inside the spa you can have a massage and other treatments plus enjoy the sauna and indoor pool. They have the mineral water from Roman times for you to enjoy (which is different from the Roman Baths which you can’t actually swim in).
Warleigh Weir – along Kennet and Avon Canal. It was a few minutes walk from our Airbnb but is easily reachable from the city centre. Ideal for a sunny walk along the canal or a picnic in the countryside. We spotted people kayaking and also swimming near the Weir so it’s great for all activities.
Bathampton for stunning view over Bath. If you drive towards Claverton from Bath, you’ll spot the view on the left side of the road.
Food – we mostly ate in our Airbnb because it rained most of the time we were there so outdoor dining was no good! However we did manage to check out Boston tea party in kingsmead square – a great brunch spot in the city centre.
Bath is easily doable for a day trip or weekend trip due to how easy it is to get around. As well as the places mentioned above, it’s also worth checking out the Royal Crescent and the Circle plus a gallery or two. For a pub lunch in a picturesque location, the Hare and Hounds is a must!

How I am in love with the door from Bath Abbey. I do love old medieval doors! Only been to the Roman Baths in the city, would love to head back here and see more of the place.
